This piece is a personal observation of the deeply metamorphic power of grief, loss and sorrow. The guardian is about the belief that somewhere, in some ancient realm creatures known and unknown to us, exist to watch over and protect us. Always watching and observing, shadowing us, buffering us from the darkness and gloom that lies thick and heavy in the air. While also encouraging us to acknowledge and embrace the beauty that is often eclipsed by the night. We are often aware of our strength but we are never truly tested of this until we face adversity, and from this melancholy and dysphoria a total transformation can be born. Often this power and resiliency can be traced back to a sole source -those in our lives who have been guardians and guides to us. Those whose long lost voices soothed us, who’s worn hands cradled and held us in times of deepest sadness, and who’s laughter we can recall in times of blissful elation. Allowing a symbiotic bridge to appear between worlds in these moments of reminiscence. A presence wether here or long gone, still steers us devotedly and determinedly towards a brighter path.
